Development of an experimental simulator to analyse ACL pretension
Design of an experimental simulator to quantify different factors influencing the ACL pre-tension for developing patient-specific implants.
With an incidence count of 46/100,000, ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament, short ACL, are among the most common sports injuries in Germany. A currently unsolved problem is the choice of the patient-specific pre-tension of the reconstructed ACL, which has an influence on the function of the joint and the risk of re-rupture. This project aims to investigate and quantify different factors influencing the ACL pre-tension by means of an experimental simulator, allowing doctors to derive a patient-specific implant.
