The goal is to allow users to automatically select, design, and optimize any type of motion device based on a simple task description without the need for in-house expertise. Our research field ranges from compliant mechanisms and origami folding structures to industrial robots and planar mechanisms.
This diversity is reflected in the working group around this topic, which is composed of members from gear engineering, machine dynamics, and robotics. In this way, the methodological skills from the fields of gear synthesis and design as well as the analysis and evaluation of kinematic, dynamic and stiffness properties can be optimally combined with the competences and experience from applications in robotics.
