We regretfully announce the passing of our colleague Frank Abitzsch.

Frank Abitzsch has been associated with RWTH Aachen University since 1988. He first studied metallurgy and materials science at RWTH, then took up an apprenticeship as a communications electronics technician at the Institute of Textile Technology, and after studying electrical engineering at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences in 2000 he became head of the electronics laboratory at the Institute of Mechanism Design, Machine Dynamics and Robotics.

With his passing, the Institute and the RWTH Aachen University have lost a highly committed employee who, as an all-rounder with unlimited curiosity, mastered every challenge in research and teaching.

We will remember him with gratitude as a cherished colleague and, even more so, as a friend and person, and will always honour his memory.

Our deepest condolences go to his family.

The source of all technical achievements is the divine curiosity and the playful instinct of the tinkering and pondering researcher, and no less the constructive imagination of the technical inventor.
