International Workshop on Robotics in Aachen: Research cooperation between Tokyo Institute of Technology and RWTH Aa-chen University on the future of robotics.
Tokyo/Aachen. From December 12 to December 14, 2022, researchers from Tokyo Institute of Technology and RWTH Aachen University met for a hybrid workshop to expand research collaborations in the field of robotics, with a focus on applications in health, manufacturing, construction, rescue, automation, and service.
Researchers from the Tokyo Institute of Technology and RWTH Aachen University working in the fields of robotics, medicine and automation technology met for a face-to-face workshop in Aachen from December 12 to December 14, 2022, as part of an existing research collaboration those that will be established in the future. In addition, researchers also participated online. The workshop was organized by Prof. Yukio Takeda from the Tokyo Institute of Technology and Prof. Burkhard Corves from RWTH Aachen University and the Institute of Mechanics Design, Machine Dynamics and Robotics.
The goal of the workshop was to identify future collaboration opportunities in the field of robotics between the Tokyo Institute of Technology and RWTH Aachen University in almost all areas of robotics. The focus was on the use of robots in the fields of health and medicine, production and work environments, construction, services and everyday assistance, rescue and disaster control, as well as automation and control. It also addressed collaboration between humans and robots in diverse areas of life, such as support robots in work environments in the context of inclusion, as well as robotic deployment scenarios in situations that are dangerous for humans. The use of robots in medicine and to support the everyday life of people in need of care were also topics of the workshop.
