In the winter semester, the module "Kinematics, Dynamics and Applications in Robotics" was replaced and expanded by the two modules "Robotic Systems" and "Advanced Robotic Kinematics and Dynamics". In order to expand the practical part of robotics education at the Institute of Gear Technology, Machine Dynamics and Robotics (IGMR), a robot education cell was bought with the support of the International Academy at RWTH Aachen.
The cell is equipped with a 6-axis industrial robot (FANUC LR Mate 200iD/4S), the necessary controller (R-30iB Plus) and a 2D camera for object identification. The integrated safety systems in combination with the compact housing of the robot enable safe use in teaching courses. In addition to the robot cell, a PC pool (equipped with 15 computers) was installed at the IGMR with the supplementary simulation software ROBOGUIDE.
The equipment enables students to implement and test simulations of robot tasks in the PC pool. The developed programs can then be checked on the real robot cell. The students learn how to implement theoretical methods of process planning for e.g. handling tasks.
The developed programs can then be checked on the real robot cell. The students develop further, indispensable knowledge for programming industrial robots.
In the winter semester 18/19, the cell is already partially integrated into the training operation of "Robotic Systems" as a practical exercise. For the future, an independent laboratory exercise as well as several summerschools are planned especially for the robotic cell.
